About whatif?
What if
Gandalf faced Darth Vader?
That's whatif?. Pick any two characters and we write the story of their encounter, or settle the matchup and show our reasoning.
Help us build it
whatif? is in beta, and it gets better from what people tell us. If something felt off, if a character got a matchup wrong, or if there's a feature you wish existed, we want to hear it.
We're also actively looking for creators: fan fiction writers, comic artists, narrators, video editors, and people who run fandom communities. If you make things for fans, we'd like to build this with you. And if you want to help in any other way, whether that's design, code, writing, or community, tell us what you'd like to work on. All help is appreciated.
Stories
Describe a scenario, choose the tone, and read it as chapters with illustrations. Characters keep their personalities and their power levels, so a crossover reads the way a fan would write it.
Verdicts
Ask who wins and get a ruling with the feats behind it. Verdicts are cached, so the same matchup gets the same answer for everyone.

Your data
We store your account email and the stories you save. The scenarios you write are sent to Google and OpenAI to generate results, and usage data, including session recordings, goes to PostHog. We do not sell your data.
